Montreal to build recycling sorting centre in Lachine

The city of Montreal’s executive committee approved a $49-million contract for a new sorting centre for recyclables in the Lachine borough.
The contract was awarded to La Compagnie de recyclage de papiers M D Inc., which will design, build and operate the facility. 
The sorting centre for recyclable materials is part of the master plan for waste management. The new facility will be able to handle at least 100,000 tonnes per year. The city wants it to be LEED GOLD certified,
