Montreal budget: Businesses hurt by construction will be compensated
Montrealers will see their property tax bills go up by an average of 1.7 per cent under a $5.7-billion budget unveiled Thursday.
Unlike its 2018 budget, which broke Mayor Valérie Plante’s election pledge to keep increases within the inflation rate, the one for 2019 keeps that promise.
The budget and the city’s $6.5-billion capital works program for the next three years “combine economic development, social justice and the protection of our environment,” Plante said
