Hundreds of Montrealers turned out on Thursday for Les tuques bleues, an annual snowshoe race and walk up Mount Royal.
Les tuques bleues is a fundraiser for Les amis de la montagne, a group focused on protecting and promoting the mountain.
Snowshoeing in Montreal dates back to at least the 1840s, when the Montreal Snowshoe Club first held a race from downtown to the top of the mountain, said Les amis de la montagne director of communications Hélène Panaïoti.
