Marquette MNA François Ouimet says he will fight Liberal Party decision to force him aside

QUEBEC — Veteran Liberal MNA François Ouimet has been asked by the party to step aside to make way for a new candidate in the Montreal riding of Marquette in the October election.
Despite what Ouimet says were assurances from the top that he would be allowed to run again in the Liberal fortress riding, he was told Tuesday that’s not going to happen. The party has asked him to surrender his choice spot in the name of “party renewal.”
