Man arrested on fraud charges after allegedly embezzling $9 million

Montreal police’s fraud department arrested Bassam Salman on fraud charges in Longueuil on June 21. He is suspected of orchestrating an elaborate fraud scheme and allegedly embezzling $9 million in funds over nine years.
It is considered to be one of the biggest fraud schemes in Quebec’s history. Montreal police said he is facing fraud charges of over $5,000.
