Loss of modest heritage home in Ahuntsic points to larger problem, experts say
A small, cottage-style house sold last summer on a heritage site in Ahuntsic-Cartierville has become the latest symbol of a larger debate over how the city of Montreal protects some of its oldest buildings.
Built at the end of a cul-de-sac in 1943 with a stone facade and a steeply sloping roof, the Néo-Tudor style house — located in the borough’s Sault-au-Récollet heritage site — was approved for demolition at an early July borough council meeting.
