Winnipeg zoomed off to a 3-0 lead in Ottawa Monday night before the Senators made a game of it. The Jets prevailed 6-5 behind two goals by Blake Wheeler.
Patrik Laine did not score his 44th of the season in Kanata. The spectacular Finn, who won’t turn 20 until the 19th of this month, had only one shot on goal and finished minus-1 against the lowly Senators.
Laine had seven shots on Al Montoya and opened the scoring during a first-period power play
