Îles-de-la-Madeleine mayor expected to run for Quebec Liberals

QUEBEC — Jonathan Lapierre, mayor if Îles-de-la-Madeleine, will be a star candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party in October’s general elections, a source tells La Presse Canadienne.
Lapierre, vice-president of the Fédération québécoise des municipalités, intends to succeed Germain Chevarie, who has decided not to seek another mandate.
Lapierre would not confirm the news when reached for comment, saying he is at the “discussion&rdquo
