Laval cancels council meeting due to loud blue-collar protest

Laval city council will try again to hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday after the previous night’s session was called off because of a loud protest by blue-collar workers.
Dozens of disgruntled workers, some of them blowing whistles and horns, held a protest outside Laval city council Tuesday evening, as riot police looked on. The protesters, who have been without a contract since January 2016, were also reportedly equipped with a public address system.
