Lac-Mégantic trial: Accused called 'conscientious, competent'

SHERBROOKE — Richard Labrie was a conscientious and competent railway traffic controller — and proved it in the way he handled himself in the aftermath of the Lac-Mégantic train derailment, his lawyer argued on Friday.
“This man was back at work on July 6,” defence lawyer Guy Poupart said during closing arguments.
“Can we really think, for even a fraction of a second, that he was there because he’s careless, indifferent or indolent?
