Gas leak caused an explosion in east-end Montreal

A gas leak under a house fuelled an explosion Friday afternoon in a home in the borough of Mercier, sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries.
Montreal fire department head of operations David Shelton said work was being done on the foundation of a home on Taillon St. near Pierre-De Coubertin Ave. when a worker driving piles into the ground hit a gas line just after 12:30 p.m.
