From the archives: Trafalgar school has long history

This story was first published on Sept. 22, 2012, in the Montreal Gazette.
 “Yesterday, the Trafalgar Institute was informally opened for the reception of students,” The Gazette reported on Sept. 29, 1887. Alas, when the doors swung open, just one student was waiting to enter, a girl named Effie Baker.
To be sure, a second girl arrived that evening from Toronto. A third enrolled before Christmas, and four more soon after.
