Four per cent increase in child abuse reports in Quebec, youth protection says

The Direction de protection de la jeunesse du Québec (DPJ) received 91,191 reports of child abuse in 2016, up from 87,800 in the previous year.
This amounts to about 250 reports per day, the DPJ told a press conference Tuesday in Montreal.
Of those reports, 36,002, or 39.5 per cent, were acted on.
The largest share of the reports were related to physical abuse (24 per cent), followed by negligence (22 per cent), psychological abuse (17 per cent) and serious risk of negligence (12 per
