FCKD UP: After teen’s death, should high-alcohol, high-sugar drinks be sold in Canada?
A Laval teen was found dead last week after reportedly drinking FCKD UP — a high-sugar alcoholic beverage marketed to young drinkers.
On Sunday, Laval-based Groupe Geloso, the company that manufactures FCKD UP, announced it would be pulling the beverage from shelves across Quebec and discontinuing its production. But the beverage — which contains 11.9 per cent alcoholic content per can — was still in stores across Montreal as of Wednesday.
