Endangered whales: Transport Canada fines ships for flouting speed restrictions
Transport Canada says it has fined three ships for allegedly not complying with speed restrictions aimed at protecting whales.
Penalties of $6,000 were issued to the vessels Azoresborg, New Shanghai and Jacqueline C, the federal department said Tuesday.
Vessel owners have 30 days to pay the penalty or to ask the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada for a review.
