Duncan: Will Off-Islanders be bagging it in 2018?

While the City of Montreal’s ban on plastic bags having just come into effect on Jan. 1, it remains to be seen whether Off-Island towns will soon follow suit and fully implement similar bans in their territories.
Montreal’s ban on “single-use” plastic bags awards it the distinction of being the first major city in Canada that officially does so. Some nearby municipalities such as Brossard on the south shore have been exercising a ban since 2016.
