Distracted driving linked to more deaths than drunk driving: SQ

The number of deadly collisions rose 1.7 per cent in 2017, when compared with the previous year, according to the Sûreté du Québec’s provisional road safety report, to be released on Friday.
On the territory patrolled by the SQ, the number of deadly collisions rose from 204 to 244, but the number of deaths during the period rose 3.5 per cent, from 260 to 269. Almost two-thirds of deadly conditions took place during the day.
