Cowansville Penitentiary under lockdown after contraband found

Cowansville Penitentiary is under lockdown until further notice, with detainees confined to their cells.
The medium-security prison in the Montérégie region launched a general search Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. after finding some drugs and contraband items. All visits to the prison have cancelled until further notice.
These “safety measures” were implemented because of a security threat to detainees, guards and the public, Line Dumais, responsible for communications f
