Court authorizes franchisee class action against Jean Coutu

Quebec Superior Court has authorized franchises to launch a class action against Groupe Jean Coutu.
The pharmacist-owners, grouped together under the Sopropharm group, are challenging a clause in their contract that deals with royalties that must be handed over based on a percentage of sales in franchises.
They allege that this clause violates their ethics code, at least for the dispensary part of the pharmacy — as opposed to the commercial part for consumer and personal care goods —
