Couillard shuts down idea of early general elections

TEL AVIV, Israel – Quebecers won’t be heading to the polls before October 2018, the planned date for the elections, Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard said Wednesday.He said he did not want to take advantage of his opponents’ weaknesses, and dispelled any scenario in which the elections would be moved up.Quebec law calls for fixed election dates every four years, but the premier reserves the right to launch general elections if he sees fit.
