Celine Cooper: Canada 150 is a time to reflect on our history
I love a good Canada Day party, and this is going to be a big one. But one of the most gratifying things about the attention being showered on Canada’s 150th anniversary is that — intentionally or not — it’s opened up a space for people to challenge dominant historical narratives about our country.
In 2017, it seems absurd to pretend that Canada’s story began with Confederation in 1867, or that it’s been a singular, happy story for all.
