Canadiens trade Nathan Beaulieu to Buffalo for third-round draft pick

The Canadiens’ need to add a veteran defenceman became more acute Saturday when the team gave up on 2011 first-round draft choice Nathan Beaulieu.
While the rumour mill has the Canadiens in play for Ottawa’s Dion Phaneuf and Winnipeg’s Marco Scandella or Jonas Brodin, the Canadiens traded Beaulieu to the Buffalo Sabres for a third-round 2017 draft pick.
