Canadiens' Claude Julien faces new challenges as team rebuilds

When Claude Julien was hired to replace Michel Therrien as coach of the Canadiens on Feb. 14, 2017, the team was still in first place in the Atlantic Division with a 31-19-8 record.
The Canadiens were slumping, with a 1-5-1 record in their last seven games and were 18-18-7 since starting the season 13-1-1. The Canadiens went 16-7-1 under Julien to finish first in the Atlantic Division with 103 points before being eliminated in six games by the New York Rangers in the first round of the playoffs.
