Bill Zacharkiw: Sake is in a class of its own

I love sushi. I have also long stopped trying to find new and interesting wine pairings for it, because nothing else I have tried comes close to sake as the ideal accompaniment. It never overpowers the subtle flavours of sashimi (fish served without rice). It also seems to work with both the saltiness of tamari and the spicy flavours of marinated ginger.
