Adolescents with diabetes need better help transitioning to adult care: MUHC study
Michael Wright was 16 when his parents started noticing something wasn’t quite right with their son. The signs would later seem obvious in retrospect: loss of weight, frequent urination, drinking a lot of water.
The day Wright received a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis five years ago, a doctor at the Montreal Children’s Hospital took the rest of his shift to show him around the centre, teaching him the first steps of how he was going to need to treat the disease.
