Volunteers provide food, community
Volunteering to help others often comes with benefits — a warm and fuzzy feeling or a sense of accomplishment, of giving back to the community.
Sometimes these can be surprising. For two London volunteers, their efforts came back to them as job opportunities.
Barb Symington began helping at St. Paul’s Cathedral several years ago. In 2017, she was hired to manage St. Paul’s Social Services, a registered charity that provides food and other support for 2,000 people every month.
