More than 5,000 customers were without power as snow touched down on Vancouver Island

More than 5,000 BC Hydro customers were temporarily without power Friday as snow fell across many regions of Vancouver Island. The majority of the outages were located in the South Island in the Lake Cowichan area, where approximately 4,010 residents and businesses were without electricity. According to BC Hydro, the outages were caused by a transmission circuit failure in the area.
