Lower panel prices boost interest in home solar power but true cost is complex

Lockdowns imposed to control the COVID-19 pandemic have sparked plenty of interest in residential solar power systems among people forced to spend more time at home, says installer Paul Rivera. But closing those sales has been problematic, Rivera says, since the Alberta government ended a rebate program that had covered as much as 35 per cent of the initial cost of a typical system. 'I've been in the solar business long enough to watch it slowly, slowly increase, then once the grant program was
