Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe hosts community services building grand opening

AKWESASNE — While many departments of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT) have been working out of the Teionkwarihwaienawà:kon, or community services building, since the fall, people were invited to tour the newly renovated facility during its grand opening on Friday. Formerly an IGA grocery store, the SRMT acquired the building and property in 2010 and continued to operate it as a grocery store briefly before determining it wasn’t profitable.
