Cornwall police charge woman with assault, theft

A 31-year-old woman from Cornwall is facing two charges after police responded to a Ninth Street East business. Police alleged the woman removed merchandise from the store without paying for it on April 8, and then assaulted the loss-prevention officer. She was taken into custody at police headquarters on  Tuesday. The woman was charged with assault, and theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. She was released from police custody to appear in Cornwall court on May 29.
