Chatham-Kent police report drop in crime severity index

Community engagement, proactive policing and focused enforcement are being credited for a drop in Chatham-Kent’s crime severity index (CSI) in 2025.Statistics Canada’s CSI measures both the volume and seriousness of police-reported crime. Compared to 2024, Chatham-Kent police noted there were decreases across all three CSI categories:Overall – 65.7, down from 74.5Violent – 73.5, down from 78.2Non-violent – 63.1, down from 73.7These trends reflect the efforts of CKP
