U.S. coronavirus cases now highest in the world

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the U.S. rose to 81,378 on Thursday — more than any other country, overtaking both Italy and China — while the death toll passed the 1,000 mark, according to a running tally by Johns Hopkins University.
