Thousands of paths, known as seismic lines, carved into Canada's boreal peatlands for oil and gas exploration could be speeding up climate change, suggests a study from University of Waterloo researchers. In Alberta's boreal peatlands alone, these paths, found in B.C. and Saskatchewan as well, are long enough to wrap around the Earth nine times.
