Montreal weather updates: Thousands without power, 911 flooded with calls

Treacherous conditions on streets and sidewalks in Montreal during a freezing rain storm are leading to a peak in 911 calls, according to Urgences-santé. “We’ve had more than 90 calls an hour, which is very unusual — unusual for this period. Usually we’re more around 40 to 50 calls an hour,” Alexandre Sapone, the chief of operations for Urgences-santé said Monday. Many of the calls are related to people falling on the ice in Montreal and Laval, he said
