Slow start to United Way support

The local United Way campaign is only a month old, but already it’s lagging behind that of last year, when the charity failed to meet its fundraising goal for the second consecutive year.
About 15 per cent of this year’s $2-million goal for the United Way Hastings and Prince Edward had been raised by Friday, executive director Kathy Murphy said.
Last year in the same period the campaign had raised 19 per cent of its $2.11-million target. The historical mid-October rate is 24 per cent
