Quick action douses marsh fire Saturday

Quick action by Belleville firefighters and local residents stopped the spread of a marsh fire on the city’s east side on Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters from Stations 3 and 4 were initially dispatched to an ATV fire off of Highway 2 East just before 3 p.m.
On arrival, fire fighters found that the ATV had caught fire and flames had spread to the marsh area near the shore the Bay of Quinte and was extending in an easterly direction.
