Update: Atwater Ave. reopens after daylong closure near Notre-Dame St.

The section of Atwater Ave. between Notre-Dame and Workman Sts., closed all day Sunday due to a police operation, has reopened to traffic, said Montreal police spokesperson Jeanne Drouin. It reopened at about 5 p.m. The police operation had nothing to do with criminal activity, Drouin said. Rather, it involved a person in distress, possibly due to a mental health issue. The person was safe and sound at the end of the afternoon, she said.
