Six-year-old child dies in mechanical accident

A six-year-old child is dead after being crushed by a mechanical shovel in St-Jean-de-Dieu, a town about 40 kilometres northwest of Rivière-du-Loup.
The incident occurred on private property around 3:30 p.m. and appears to have been accidental, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Hélène Nepton.
A police specialist in event reconstruction has been dispatched to examine the scene.
