Review: Vic and Flo’s cinematic magic barely served in stage version

The decision to create a piece of theatre out of a film of such enigmatic eccentricity and understated visual panache as Denis Côté’s Vic and Flo Saw a Bear is certainly a bold one.
So let’s start by acknowledging the intrepidity of Michael Mackenzie, who directs his own adaptation, and of Talisman Theatre, whose mandate it is to present Québecois francophone texts in English, for embarking on this particular bear hunt.
