Police operation closes Atwater Ave. near Notre-Dame St.

Motorists should avoid Atwater Ave. near Notre-Dame St. on Sunday. The section of Atwater between Notre-Dame and Workman Sts. is closed due to a police operation, said Montreal police spokesperson Jeanne Drouin. There are several police and emergency vehicles in the area. The operation has nothing to do with criminal activity, she said. Rather, it is because of a person in distress, possibly due to a mental health issue. The closure was announced in the morning and continued into the afternoon.
