Plante pledges relief to construction-marooned Bishop St. businesses

Projet Montréal leader Valérie Plante visited the beleaguered downtown merchants of Bishop St. Monday morning to promise tax breaks to businesses whose livelihood has been stymied by road work in Montreal.
Mayoral candidate Plante referred to the Brussels model, wherein a municipality looks at the duration of the work and the level of disruption to business to determine how much of a financial break the city can offer to help businesses survive construction-related downturns.
