Magdalen Islands don't deserve separate riding: Quebec's Chief Electoral Officer
Quebec’s Chief Electoral Officer is calling for an end to the special legal status that allows the Magdalen Islands to remain a separate riding despite their small population.
The islands have 12,291 residents, a fraction of the population of some Montreal-area ridings like Nelligan (80,510 in 2011) or Jacques Cartier (60,065 in 2011).
