Daniel Carr, of all people, scored the game’s first goal on a late-period Canadiens power play.
New Jersey challenged on Carr being offside, but the goal was ruled good. 
The Canadiens needed more than eight minutes to get their first shot on Keith Kincaid. By then, Carey Price had made seven saves.
The Canadiens came to life in the latter half of the first period, and Carr dinged one off the post behind Kincaid.
Shots were 8-7 NJ.
