Lac-Mégantic disaster: No criminal charges will be filed against MMA

Quebec’s office of criminal prosecutions (DPCP) announced Tuesday that no criminal charges will be filed against the Montreal Maine & Atlantic (MMA) railway in connection with Lac-Mégantic rail disaster that killed 47 persons in July 2013.
A spokesperson for the DPCP said the office was not reasonably convinced it could obtain a conviction against the company, particularly in the wake of not-guilty verdicts delivered earlier this year by a jury in the trial of three MMA employee
