Anticapitalist May Day protest turns violent in downtown Montreal

An anticapitalist protest for International Workers Day turned violent minutes after it began on Tuesday. 
Around 200 protestors gathered at Lafontaine Park at 6 p.m., before marching toward downtown Montreal. 
A few minutes after protestors began walking, fireworks went off. Some protestors appeared to be throwing firecrackers at police. 
Police used chemical irritants in an effort to disperse the crowd.
