Sextortion on the rise in Kelowna: RCMP

The Kelowna RCMP is making the public aware that reports of sextortion is on the rise.
Because of this, the RCMP is encouraging the public to learn how to recognize sextortion, protect themselves online, and know where to turn for help.
“Sextortion, also known as sexual extortion, is a form of online blackmail where an offender threatens to share intimate images or videos of a victim unless they provide money, additional images, or other demands,” stated a Kelowna RCMP press release.
