B.C. updates consumer protection laws to better regulate contracts

Attorney General Niki Sharma says changes to B.C.’s consumer protection laws will “put consumers back in control.”
The changes to B.C.’s Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act came into effect on Aug. 1. The amendments are meant to modernize B.C.’s consumer protection laws to regulate consumer contracts to better reflect the marketplace, promote fairness and transparency, strengthen consumer rights and help people make informed financial decisions.
