18-year-old ticketed for excessive speeding on Hwy. 1 in Abbotsford

Abbotsford police disciplined an 18-year-old after he was allegedly travelling at nearly twice the speed limit with alcohol in his system on Sunday morning (Aug. 16).According to a social media post from the Abbotsford Police Department, a 2023 Hyundai Genesis was spotted “at a very high rate of speed” at approximately 6:20 a.m. in the ​ Whatcom Road and Highway 1 area.
After merging onto the highway, police say the Genesis was clocked travelling at 191 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
