Robert R. Redfield, M.D., Named New CDC Director

Robert R. Redfield, M.D., a clinical researcher who has specialized in studying HIV and other chronic human viral infections, has been appointed director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).Dr. Redfield comes to the CDC from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he has been the Robert C. Gallo, MD Endowed Professor in Translational Medicine, as well as a co-founder and associate director of the Institute of Human Virology (IHV).At the CDC, Dr. Redfield suc
