WhatsApp Working on Extending End-to-End Encryption to Local Backups: Report

WhatsApp is working on enabling end-to-end encryption for local backups, according to WABetaInfo. It will be an extension to the existing end-to-end encryption that is live for chats and calls being made through the messaging app.
